Clients

We have worked with a range of global chemical companies, as well as with some very small companies not known outside their own country.

Although we are not always asked to sign a confidentiality agreement, we do feel that the details of our clients should remain confidential. This is especially important when we act as an employee of that company in front of a customer.

For this reason, we would prefer not to quote the names of our clients. Suffice to say, many of them are very well known global players. Papertex consultants have worked on every continent across the globe (except Antartica) and at every level, from shop floor to board room.

Making Chemistry Work

Papertex has been involved with a large range of projects over the years, so the best way of telling you exactly what we do, is to give details of some of the projects we have been involved in.

Support to develop a sales and marketing campaign for a global chemical company Papertex was involved in working with a global team from our client to develop a sales and marketing campaign to sell ASA sizing systems globally. This involved all parts of the package, from strategic planning, equipment specification and design, sales training, field technical support, sales support (especially technical presentations) and promotional literature.

Strategic review of global market for paper chemicals. Papertex carried out a strategic review of the current market and global trends for paper chemicals for a US based chemical company. This included a competitive analysis and evaluated how our client fitted into the marketplace. A detailed presentation of the results was presented to a company board meeting.

Advice and support to chemical company considering entering the paper chemicals market. A major chemical manufacturer was looking for new opportunities and identified the paper industry as a potential market. Papertex was commissioned to support both the commercial review and the technical evaluation of potential products. Information on market size, structure, players and costs of entry were established and presented. Details of potential gaps in current competitive offerings - which would fit with our client's current business portfolio - were identified. Laboratory testing of new products was carried out and reported.

Technical training of sales staff. A one week training session on paper sizing products was run for the Asian sales team of a major chemical company. This event was based in the regional head office in Asia and covered many aspects of internal and surface sizing, and included the development of a strategic plan for future sales.

Business development in water utility market. A medium sized, family owned, chemical company contracted Papertex to provide advice and support to enable them to enter the UK water utility market. Papertex personnel worked within the existing sales team to develop a presence in this market. Professional responses to the individual tender requests were developed and presented to the potential clients. Contracts were established with a number of new customers, establishing this new supplier as a major player in this marketplace. Success in this market with blue-chip customers had an immediate postive impact in other allied markets for our client.

Laboratory testing. Testing of prototype chemicals through the making of handsheets and subsequent physical testing of sheets.

Problem solving in a manufacturing facility. We have a large number of examples of this type of work, covering both paper mills and water treatment plants. Although we usually use a detailed understanding of the chemistry involved to solve the problem, we do have a number of techniques which are effective at reviewing all types of process issues. This has allowed us to solve a number of non-chemical related problems for our clients.

Sales support for US based chemical company. A US based chemical company was bidding for the supply of all the wet-end chemicals at a major paper manufacturer. Although very experienced across most of the chemicals included in the bid, they lacked the expertise required to demonstrate a competence with sizing chemicals. Papertex was asked to provide this, acting in front of the paper mill as an employee of the chemical supplier. A number of major presentations were supported, with detailed questions answered during the presentations.

Market research reports. Papertex personnel have authored a number of market research reports for a major international player in this business. This has involved analysis of outside studies, supported by telephone, desk and library reseach.

Retention and drainage evaluations. As part of a week-long training session on paper chemicals at a mill in China, several days were spent carrying out a laboratory based retention and drainage study on a range of possible chemical systems.

Business development for Indian chemical company. A full range of services were provided to help a medium sized chemical company grow in its chosen market. This involved advice on sourcing, manufacture, field application and testing, dosing equipment, sales and marketing, and strategic planning. Both paper and water treatment chemicals were included.

Chemical supply. We supply a number of speciality paper chemical and water treatment products. This includes ASA size, retention and drainage aids, charge control agents, wet strength agents, coagulants and flocculants, dyes and defoamers. This is a small part of our business - often evolving from other work for a client. As a result, in some circumstances we act as an agent for a chemical manufacturer rather than selling under our own tradename.
