Measuring
the charge on papermaking fibres has been practiced for almost forty years,
since Ed Strazdins introduced the idea that the charge on the fines in the
filtrate from filtered stock was representative of the whole furnish. Since
then, many different types of charge measurement techniques have been developed,
and with this has come an increasing reliance on the use of charge control
agents to improve the papermaking process.
There have been numerous case histories regarding the effectiveness of the charge control in many types of mill. The list of benefits is considerable:
Papertex consultants can help paper manufacturers achieve many of these benefits. We offer advice and support on:
Product choice - looking at alternative chemistries and molecular weights
Addition point and dosage
Charge monitoring equipment and operation - including on-line systems and laboratory instruments.
We are also able to supply retention aid and charge control agents. For data sheets, please see our downloads page.
